Probiotic strain L. Reuteri DSM 17938
Studies have shown that infants who suffer from colic have a different intestinal microflora than babies who do not suffer from colic. Probiotics (in particular the so-called Lactobacillus reuteri) have helped reduce the symptoms of colic in some of these babies.
Talk to your child’s doctor about this option and ask for recommendations.
Intestinal flora plays an important role in childhood colic. Several studies have shown less bifidobacteria and lactobacilli in childhood colic while both Escherichia, Klebsiella, Serratia, Vibrio, Yersinia y Pseudomonas are more prominent in the colon.
When given once daily, it appears to have scientific evidence in the treatment of infant colic, without significant side effects.
